October 10 - Time at Home & Round Three
We had a great week at home! Clare finally felt better from her illness and was able to join us back at home on Saturday afternoon. We took a family trip to the pumpkin patch and enjoyed a Jim & Sylvia Reinagel family reunion, soccer games for both girls, and lots of time outside soaking in this beautiful weather. Hudson has had lots of great energy and has been feeling good. 🤩
Hudson and I went to St. Louis for his sedated auditory brain response test on Monday. His hearing is all normal and the test went great! Waking up from sedation was not so great this time, though, which made for an interesting trek to the car. 🫠They will be checking Hudson’s hearing after each of these next rounds of chemo, as one of the meds he will receive is very toxic to hearing.
Today started his next admission - round three of chemo, but the first round of high dose chemo followed by stem cell transplant. We arrived today around 4pm. They’ll be starting his hyper hydration soon to prepare for chemo tomorrow. He’ll get two chemo meds tomorrow, followed by the same two meds on Saturday. Sunday will be a “rest” day and then his stem cell transplant will happen on Monday. Hudson’s already expressing his opinion on hospital food again, but otherwise we had a pretty good evening! Since he’ll have to be a bit more confined to his room this admission, he received lots of new toys from Friends of Kids with Cancer, and the child life team had his room decorated and set up when we arrived. He was so excited for his new toys and got lots of play time in this evening - including some special time with Uncle T! 🥰
I know I probably sound like a broken record, but we are truly so thankful for the overwhelming support we continue to receive from our family, friends, workplaces, churches, school communities, sports teams, and even strangers! I could go on and on about people who have reached out with kind words or prayers or gifts - we are so grateful! 🙏🏻💪🏻
Please join us in prayer for Hudson as he begins his next round of chemo tomorrow - pray for strength, for minimal side effects, for good appetite and rest, for no hearing loss, for good tolerance of being confined to his room/hallway, and for complete and total healing from this cancer!
Jesus, we trust in you! 💛
